The day we've all been waiting for

That's right this Thursday. It's been months and it's finally here. It's almost as big as Christmas. It's the first college football game. And Saturday is even bigger. Soooo many games and so little time. Everyone is talking about his/her team. How good they were and what this season will bring. What are the expectations? For some it's only about winning the rivalry, for other's it's about not losing - ever.

What is great about college football is the unknown. Could we have another year where App State pulls a large upset. Their first game is at the swamp. They have decided to take on LSU. I have news for App. You're in the SEC now! Things are done differently. Football is a religion. It's sacred. And don't expect to catch breaks like you did against Michigan. Expect to be punished for thinking you could handle the SEC. SEC football is hard nosed physical punishment with some finesse of passing,
mixed in. You want to win in the SEC you have to be tough. I mean REAL tough. You have to have depth at every position because we're here to make it painful. There are no easy wins in the SEC.

And while I'm talking about the SEC please don't bother trying to tell me that we are an overrated conference and the Big 10 or some other western conference is just as good or better. Look at the pre-season rankings. Five or six team are ranked ( depending on which list you look at). And another 3 got votes. So 9 of 12 teams are being looked at to be in the top 25. What other conference can boast that 3/4 of their teams are good enough to even be considered for the top 25???? And here's the kicker. At the end of the season we will still have those numbers. I'd rather suck in the SEC than reign elsewhere! That being said ......

As most know I'm a huge Mississippi State fan. And last football season we finally made our impression. But this year has a chance to be even bigger. We have a great
squad and returning a great number of people. Our coach has expressed his belief that this year we could be posed to do more than just impress but make our mark. But I won't brag , I'll just let my guys talk on Saturdays.

Ahh, football season in Mississippi. Its amazing how every year MSU thinks they are going to have a great season and every year THEY SUCK! I will give them credit for last season, there was some improvement.

Now, I am not going to sit here and say much about Ole Miss. The rebels have sucked severely since Eli left the field, but this year brings new hope. NUTT! People say Orgeron was a mistake, but really, the only good that came out of Orgeron was that he recruited some talent. So Nutt actually has something to work with. Time will tell....time will tell.

I will say this, and mark my words..... OLE MISS WILL BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF MSUX!!!! On November 28 in Oxford MS, there will be a bulldog ass beating.

If Huston Nutt is anything like Ole Miss hopes for then I expect November 28 to be a great day of football.

I think that I would post as "anonymous" as well with stupidity like that. Just admit it. You are an Ole Miss homer with your Grove t-shirt pulled over your eyes.

MSU is a ton better this year than last year (any person who actually follows college football knows that) and you are making an acenine statement regarding their game with Ole Miss. It may be a good game, but MSU is not going to get bashed.

Oh by the way, I am an Arkansas fan and not ashamed of it. I know what it is like to have Nutt on your sideline in close games. Just go back to last year's Auburn game and watch the end -- great play calling. I almost ripped the t.v. off the wall and threw it out the window. Nutt makes some the dumbest calls and you just sit there in amazement that someone can be that ignorant.

Wait a minute....Ole Miss probably won't have to worry about that since they are never really in close games. Just ignore everything I said. Sorry....

Just a few stats...

This will be the 93rd consecutive year these two teams have met, making it the 10th longest uninterupted series in NCAA. If you dont count 1943 due to WWII.

This will be the 81st battle for the Golden Egg which was first proposed by an Ole Miss honorary society in 1927.

Ole Miss won the first battle for the Golden Egg 20-12.

Ole Miss also won the first actual "Egg Bowl" 27-7 which was so named in 1978.

Ole Miss holds a 53-22-5 record for the egg bowl and a 59-39-6 overall record.

Ole Miss has a 20-11-3 record in Starkvegas.

Ole Miss has won 4 of the last 6 games agianst MSU. The series is tied 8-8 in the last 16 years.

Sam. So by your logic, the Yankees should win the World Series this year.

Big A,

I dont recall ever saying in my post that Ole Miss would win. I was just showing some facts that prove Ole Miss has always been the better team.

Umm, who sucks?

Looks like State is off to a REALLY BAD START! I mean seriously! LA Tech? What? So far MSUX is the only SEC team that hasnt won a game opening weekend.
